This kit works well, once you get it in. Installation was not difficult in the end, but...
1)It was delivered without any instructions at all. Luckily the manufacturer of the filter we bought at the same time has a very friendly and efficient customer service department that promptly emailed us an instruction sheet.
2) The kit comes with parts for two separate installation methods-- using a saddle valve, or tee-ing off of the cold water valve to your faucet. The included parts did not quite match the installation instructions. (The faucet itself and the hoses and adapters leading to the filter housing corresponded exactly to those in the instructions, but the various parts for connecting to the water supply did not.) I wanted to use the second method, but the parts supplied were not the correct size for attaching to my valve or sink. The parts listed in the instruction sheet would have worked just fine, but those supplied were for much larger fittings, not the standard size I needed. I had to go to two hardwared stores and enlist the ingenuity of several salespeople to come up with a simple solution requiring two additional parts.
Once installed, this system operates well, keeps the filter under the sink instead of taking up counter space, and ensures that only cold water runs through your filter. Only basic plumbing skills are needed (can you use a wrench and teflon tape?). -- Good product, poor packaging and accessories
i bought this conversion kit because the faucet in my new apartment is super fancy and has no place to attatch the filter the basic way. some people say they installed it themselves, and i guess you could, but it involves tapping into the water line, and i'm not that handy. my friend's dad is a contractor, so he did it for me as a favor. he said it was easy for a person who knows basic plumbing. it works really well and looks very sleek - it's nice not to have that big beige monster on the counter for the world to see. -- perfect!
This was easy to install and works fine. Two issues kept it from getting 5 stars. First, the instruction sheet didn't match the contents of the box. (Though it was still pretty easy to figure out.) And, the included tubing was really short. My sink isn't that big and I had to stretch to get things in the right spot. -- Works...
So what they don't tell you is that you have to hire a plumber to install this kit (unless you REALLY know what you're doing.) I still have it, in a drawer, because I'm sure I'll need it one day. But not anytime soon. It's much, MUCH easier to keep this thing on the counter if it won't offend your delicate decorating sensibilities. -- Hire a plumber
I findthis product to fullfill all the expectations and more
and I would reconemd it to every one I talk to about water filters.
